I am on a continuing journey to DISCOVER more about the world and myself and ways to live a more meaningful life. I hope you will join me on my journey and I hope that by SHARING my experiences and adventure stories, I will be able to INSPIRE others to do the same.
Some of my blog posts will be about my love for the outdoors and Photography. Others will be about life's adventures, the people I meet and the places I get to travel to. And of-course I will be documenting my bus conversion here and the perks and challenges of living on the road.
After taking a month off work in 2014 to go on a road trip across the U.S. and Canadian Rockies, I could no longer contain my wanderlust. In early 2015, after 7 years at my work, I finally made the big step of quitting my job, renting out my house and selling most of my possessions. All in hopes of realizing my DREAM of becoming a Park Ranger and being able to travel and explore more.
I now work seasonally in Alaska as a Wilderness Park Ranger and use "the off season" to travel. It has been a dream come true, in some ways even better than I could have imagined. Although it also comes with its challenges, living a nomadic lifestyle, only getting paid for part of the year and never really knowing what's going to be next... I have no regrets though, I am 100% happier now than I was two years ago.
During the winter of 2015 I converted a school bus that I had bought at an auction and turned it in to a motorhome. It is now my home and mobile photography studio, allowing me to travel and work on the road as an independent photographer/journalist. This is all still kinda new and I have no idea how it will work out. But that is what adventure is all about, embracing the unknown.
Adventure isn't new to me though. I grew up in the Netherlands but once I tuned 19, I packed my bags and moved halfway across the world to start a new life near Seattle, which I called home for nearly 10 years. During those years I tried to tame my adventurous soul, but through many mistakes, I learned that the only cure to wanderlust is to embrace it! I hope that during my life I will be able to see as much of the world as possible.
I am far from perfect though, I am just another guy, trying to figure out life. Hoping to help those who cross my path and sharing my experiences, so we can all grow as a person. On that note, anything you read on this blog is solely my own opinion, it does not represent the views and or opinions of any company mentioned by me and should not be considered as advise. Phew, got that legality disclaimer out of the way, now enjoy reading me blog!
Cheers,
Boris
